Now that I've got some idea of how Proto-Indo-European worked, I'm trying to run things forwards with the minimal selection of roots I need to generate the names that were the whole point of this. In doing so, I have learned two things:
- I can read some ambiguity into Wikipedia's description of the idealized regular ablaut.
- I don't know what to do when I put a syllable in zero-grade, and then the multiple sonorants mean it doesn't have a defined nucleus in my eyes, and then I'm supposed to accent it?
That said, I've run a few roots partway forwards, and the results so far look interesting. We'll have to see whether things still look good once I've figured this out.
Anyway, I want to cool off and get to bed now.
Good night.
