All right, after going through some interesting stuff with shipping (why did they put "receiving department" on the label if they knew it was a residential address? Baffling) I've got the thermal printer, and it definitely seems to be working.

Now that I've taken care of the hardware side of things, I've got to work on writing support code of varying levels of sophistication. Here's how I believe things go:

• Use the firmware version information to finally access the relevant WSDL file
• See how interfaces generated from that file feel/work
• Experiment with images, first pure black and white, then greyscale subject to various forms of dithering, then start working on generating images

This will have to wait until the weekend before things have a chance to get interesting. I have a job, after all. And for now I should be getting to sleep.
