Three Dollar Quill

It's late, so quick rundown of the state of things:

• I rolled back to what I believe is the last version that type-checked.
• I reintroduced some of the typing improvements I made on what is now a weird offshoot.
• I'm trying to figure out the right way to signpost "some of these subclasses are just for ease of subclassing, do not annotate anything with them".
• I'm still letting the question of how to associate this context data percolate in my mind.

I can't make much progress without having an answer to one of those questions, so I think I also need to be open to switching projects for a bit, if I'm really unsure. Regardless, need to get to bed right now-ish.
