Three Dollar Quill

I've managed to write tests to cover all of the code that I want to cover right now. Rather than jumping right into refactoring the type annotations, I'm instead rehashing the problem and my intended solution, to try to be sure that I won't somehow make things worse.

My plan right now is to get back to Way Too Fast!! in some capacity tomorrow, and work on this code as I see fit. For now, I need to get ready for bed.
