Okay, I'm not feeling great right now, but I want to try to get something done. I was looking over the matrix code earlier, and I noticed that there's a concept that can have a better name. It's called "include box", but in practice, it's specifying default values for some arguments. So let's try to get it to have a name that reflects that.
